Our Sweet Pickled Herring is a true Suffolk classic — tender herring fillets cured in a light cider vinegar brine, perfectly balanced with sweetness and spice. Each batch is prepared by hand in our Aldeburgh smokehouse, using fresh herring and a carefully crafted mix of local cider, sugar, and aromatic herbs.
The result is a bright, tangy pickle that enhances the natural richness of the herring without overpowering it. It’s delicious served cold with crusty bread, boiled potatoes, or a crisp salad — a simple and traditional favourite loved up and down the coast.
We make our pickle fresh in small batches, ensuring the fish stays firm and flavoursome. It’s an honest, old-style preserve that captures the seaside spirit of Aldeburgh — refreshing, zesty, and beautifully balanced.

Once opened, consume within 2 days.
